No Experience Necessary
I have read the great novels
Newspaper ads for supermarket specials
And heard the great symphonies
Football fight songs for the local team
And seen the great paintings
Patches of grey over graffitied walls
And learned the great philosophies
Chances of winning the daily lottery.
And I have seen the great masters
Stacking soup cans on a store shelf
And heard the great virtuosos
Begging passersby for spare change
And watched the great artists
Posting signs to sell their furniture
And known the great thinkers
Who can’t even convince themselves.
